Veganist: Lose Weight, Get Healthy, Change the World Audio CD – Hörbuch, 1. Februar 2011

4,1 von 5 Sternen 245 Sternebewertungen

Kathy Freston wasn't born a vegan. The bestselling author and renowned wellness expert actually grew up on chicken-fried steak and cheesy grits and loved nothing more than BBQ ribs and vanilla milkshakes. Not until her thirties did she embrace the lifestyle of a veganist-someone who eats a plant-based diet not just for their own personal well-being but for the whole web of benefits it brings to our ecosystem and beyond. Kathy's shift toward this new life was gradual-she leaned into it-but the impact was profound. Now Kathy shows us how to lean into the veganist life. Effortless weight loss, reversal of disease, environmental responsibility, spiritual awakening-these are just a few of the ten profound changes that can be achieved through a gentle switch in food choices.Filled with compelling facts, stories of people who have improved their weight and health conditions as a result of making the switch, and Q&As with the leading medical researchers, Veganist concludes with a step-by-step practical guide to becoming a veganist, easily and gradually. It is an accessible, optimistic, and illuminating book that will change the way you eat forever. No less delicious, still hearty and satisfying-just better for you and for all.

5,0 von 5 Sternen Every Carnivore Should Read This Book!

Like a lot of recent vegan converts, I decided to choose a plant based diet out of compassion for animals. I'd wavered back and forth because I was always very attracted to a vegan diet, but wasn't really up on the evidence and medical background, and quite frankly I was lazy. And then I clicked on videos clandestinely filmed in slaughterhouses and factory farms and became vegan from that day forward. No creature should ever have to suffer that kind of terror and abuse. As I started to get further into it and researched support for my choice, I came across this book and if I ever had any doubts about going back, this book would change my mind.

Ms. Freston has done amazing job of compiling factual information that supports what vegans have been telling us for years - that a plant based diet is better for the environment, better for animals, and better for our own health and well being. And it's put together in a way that makes it completely readable, understandable and backed with documented evidence from some serious experts. You don't need a Ph.D. to read and understand the information she gives you. She has compiled very convincing information from some medical experts the likes of T. Colin Campbell, Dr. John MacDougall, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn and many others. Look up their credentials and you'll be amazed at the medical minds with substantial evidence supporting a vegan diet. Being able to go to bed at night knowing nothing had to die to feed me today has now become the bonus feature of my new diet and lifestyle. Improving my health moving up to first place in the benefits of becoming vegan.

I'm buying a dozen-dozen hard copies of this book and passing it out for Christmas to every single person I know. I'm convinced it will change their lives. The evidence is overwhelming, and my friends are way to smart not to pay attention.

Thank you Ms. Freston for a great book!

One of the few books I have read from cover to cover. Although I am not a 100% vegan, I do lean towards vegetarian with an occassional slip of eating chicken / turkey a few time a year, the overall message in this book is sound. I purchased this book (and other vegan cookery books) to see if I could understand where I was going wrong with my increasing weight and failing diets. Although I only had 10lb to lose I was getting nowhere despite trying to be 'good' for 3 months. I eventually chucked out all the so called low fat and slimming food products in my kitchen and switched to a vegan diet (I also cut out gluten and refined sugar) three weeks ago and have already lost 7lb without really trying too hard. Low fat products often contain extra sugar. I recommended this book to help you understand the issues surrounding highly processed food we eat on a day to day basis. I would recommend however that if dieting is the focus on buying the book, readers also buy a few 'basic' vegan cookbooks that cater for day to day inexpensive and sensible meals and also find yourself some good 'go to' veggie burger recepies that you can make and freeze. I had no intention whatsoever to rush out and buy seitan or tofu.

I took this book out of my local library and enjoyed it so much I purhased a copy. I've been putting my toe in the water of the vegan lifestyle for a couple of years now. I found the book informative, presenting good arguments to support vegan choices. The author isn't preaching, but instead encourages everyone to make changes to lean towards veganism. I'd recommend the book to anyone who is trying to eat ethically.

Kathy presents a great overview and at the same time in depth analysis with a solid scientific base why we cannot forgoe seriously, very seriously! consider going vegan - at least 95 %.
I have been a vegetarian for more then 30 years and vegan on and off for three years for the same reasons she describes in her book.
If you are interested in your health, the wellbeing of other humans and animals and the planet this book will be great inspiration and helpful guide.

I saw a review of this book on oprah winfrey show and have been thinking of eating vegan for a long time due to feeling unwell

This book was written very well and gives examples of how peoples health has improved since changing their diet. It does not preach though and suggests leaning into veganism rather than rushing into it which is what I am trying to do

I also ordered vegans for dummies as wanted a book with recipes in which this book doesnt have

It is a good purchase if you are looking at a vegan lifestyle and want to know the positive reasons for doing so
